Lake Weissensee
The Weissensee in Carinthia, which is 6.5 km² in area and 11.6 km in length, is actually the cleanest swimming lake in the Alps filled with water practically pure enough to drink. Due to its extended length, it is similar in many ways to a Nordic fjord, the major difference being that it can reach temperatures as high as 24° Celsius in summer. With water that is crystal clear, allowing you to look straight down to depths as much as 11 meters, swimming becomes a truly memorable experience.
At our two swimming docks, located 1 km and 2.5 km from the hotel, you can spend a few pleasant days by the water with your whole family. Sun loungers and umbrellas, changing cabins and rowing boats are all available for you to use free of charge. Combine a day by the lake with a short bike tour along the shoreline, all the while enjoying the unique natural setting. Or perhaps you would simply prefer a pleasant ride in the free Nature Park Bus.
If you are in the mood for even more, you will be able to play at the lake to your heart’s content: there are all kinds of different sports to choose from, both traditional and new! Whether sailing, diving, or perhaps stand-up paddling – you are certain to find your own personal favorite.
